Although they may keep your company’s purse strings knotted pretty tight, CFOs uniformly care, and deeply, about helping employees plan for retirement, particularly in light of proposed federal regulations within the past year.
“A lot of what you’re seeing for the entire week is everybody wanting to be either in or out of whatever they want to show their clients for quarter-end,” said Neal Dietz, managing director at Dietz & Lynch Capitalk in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

A barrage of proposed or finalized regulation hammered the nation’s retirement system in 2010. In the not-too-distant future, FINRA would regulate RIAs, and fiduciary standards would apply to broker-dealers.
Companies are slowly starting to bring back the 401(k) match to employees. About 80% of those companies that eliminated the match have either restored or are planning to restore very soon. Ed Lynch is interviewed via Skype.
